We’re excited to bring you the first of several real wedding stories that will be appearing on the Darlington Weddings Blog over the next couple of weeks. Adam & Keighley were married at The Morritt Hotel & Spa in September 2015, following a beautiful and thoughtful proposal. The wedding was captured beautifully by Camera A Photography. Read on for Keighley’s story…

The Proposal

“It was December 2013 and Adam had booked us a long weekend away to a surprise location. My Dad died when I was little and we have a memorial seat at the end of my Mam’s estate for him. Adam decided we should go for a walk in the rain, which I though was odd as we weren’t taking the dog. We walked to Dad’s chair and Adam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The rain added to the romance, I was overwhelmed with happiness and said yes. Adam said it was a way of asking Dad and me at the same time, it was so thoughtful and perfect to me. We celebrated with my family at my brother Ross’ house that night for a secret celebration and then Adam whisked me away to, The Cranleigh, a beautiful boutique hotel in the Lakes. It was perfect.”

The Dress

“I wore a beautiful lace over tulle mermaid gown designed by Enzoani. The beaded lace detail was stunning and the shape suited my figure perfectly. My dress was from Accent Original in Newcastle. As soon as I tried the dress on, I felt amazing and knew it was the one. I had a veil made to match my dress which was beautiful lace.”

The Photographer

“Camera A were our wedding photographers, they were brilliant. Jane from Camera A was great, she was really down to earth and direct in her approach and the example albums were beautiful. Jane was very friendly and listened to what we wanted in a photographer. I liked her instantly which is important. The example wedding albums had a great mix of natural and traditional images.”

“They helped morning of the wedding and ensured that all of the photos that we wanted were taken throughout the day. They interacted well with our guests and seem to slip away into the background. Jane and Aimee were excellent, they captured every part of our special day.”

“We got our images from the wedding very quickly and they were amazing. It was wonderful reliving our day through the photographs and great seeing every part of the day.”

“We are so pleased with our wedding photographs, they are so special to us and what we love is that who ever looks at each photo has their own special memory of the day. I would most definitely recommend Camera A to other couples, they listened to everything we wanted and the end product was stunning.”

The Venue

“By chance, we came across the The Morritt Hotel as we were looking at spa weekends together and they have the beautiful Garage Spa. We instantly fell in love with the place with the old worldly bar, lovely light ballroom, beautiful garden with amazing views of the countryside – it had everything we both wanted.

“We married at St Michael and All Angels Church in Barningham. The church was only a five minute drive from The Morritt, situated in a idyllic spot with amazing views of the surrounding area.”

The Details

“Our theme was lace detailing and autumnal colours with dark reds for our bridesmaid dresses and flowers, which matched our venue perfectly.”

“Flowers were by Muscari, freelance florist Denise, with burgundy roses and ivory calla lillys for the bouquets. We borrowed two milk churns that were filled with flowers for the entrance to the church. Muscari are incredible, the flowers really were the best I’ve seen and the detailing was perfect.”

“Kelly Ann’s Cakes, created a delicious wedding cake to compliment our Autumnal theme.”

The Honeymoon

“After the wedding we stayed another night at The Morritt and had a wonderful relaxing spa day together with lots of treatments. We then spent a week in Heather Cottage, a beautiful retreat in the Derbyshire Dales. It was lovely having some time for us, we went for walks, had a days out and sipped champagne in our garden hot tub, it was a lovely retreat.”

“In May 2016, we honeymooned in California. We hired a car and hit Santa Monica, Hollywood, LA, San Diego, Las Vegas, Yosemite National Park, Sonoma Valley, San Francisco, Big Sur and Malibu to name a few. It was our trip of a lifetime together before we start a Larkin family of our own.”
