Katy, a primary school teacher, met Dimitris, the owner of a popular bar in Corfu whilst holidaying on the Greek island in 2009. They were married at Wycliffe Church earlier this year and hosted their fabulous wedding reception at one of the North’s most in demand wedding venues, Lartington Hall, near Barnard Castle. The day was captured by Graham and Bridgit from ‘And Ever After Photography‘.
Read on for Katy’s story in her own words…
“Keswick was one of the first places I took Dimitris when he visited me in England. Dimitris decided that on their anniversary he would propose there. I had no idea what he was planning but he was adamant that we had to visit Keswick on this particular day, even though the weather forecast was terrible – I couldn’t understand the need to traipse over to the Lake District in such awful weather but went along with it to please him. Dimitris set up a tripod with his camera in order to take a photo, saying they never got one with both of them in it, however he actually set it to record and filmed the proposal. Just as he pointed out to Katy that he filmed it all, the wind blew the camera over into a puddle!“
“I’d originally wanted a lace dress but felt that they were missing something when I was trying them on, then someone suggested a particular dress they had in stock so I agreed to try it but was dubious as it was satin, not lace. However, as soon as it was on I knew I had to have it, it fitted perfectly and gave me the shape and style I’d imagined. Bought from Wed2b – Gateshead – superb service and not pushy at all.“
“Graham and Bridgit from ‘And Ever After‘ were our wedding photographers. We met them at the Walworth Castle Wedding Fayre. Their work was relaxed and natural – just what we were looking for, and the fact they worked as a couple, capturing the different aspects of the day, was perfect for us.
They were so friendly, approachable and laid-back – and this was reflected in their photography style – totally natural and they captured all of our special moments.
We love our wedding images, they’re exactly what we wanted them to be – they capture the emotions of the day and look really natural. They were able to capture parts of the day that passed us by very quickly. The more we look at them, the more we see and remember. They really tell the story of the day.“
“We would recommend ‘& Ever After Photography’ very highly! We couldn’t have asked for better service, and my sister is now using them for her wedding too.”
Graham & Bridgit brought such a relaxed element to the day and made us both feel completely at ease.

“The wedding ceremony was at St Mary’s, Wycliffe CE Church – this was in the village I grew up in and my parents still live there. Our wedding reception was held at Lartington Hall. We loved the exclusivity of the venue and felt nowhere nearby offered anything close in terms of service, attention to the couple or style. We went for a visit expecting it to be out of our budget but the second we walked through the doors into the hallway we instantly fell in love with it and knew it had to be there.
John and Shona, the owners at Lartington Hall, couldn’t do enough for us to make sure the day was perfect. We didn’t have to think about anything on the day. The staff were professional but also lighthearted and relaxing to be around!“

“Flowers were done by family friend, Emma Calvert. Decorations were all provided by myself and the venue arranged them. Hurricane vases on tables for the breakfast and stainless steel lanterns for our evening reception.
We had a 4 tiered sponge cake (Victoria, Chocolate, Lemon and Carrot) made and decorated by bride’s sister, Jo Bestford. It was amazing and the Greek guests spent the next few days arguing over which flavoured cake was the most delicious!”
